A Guide To Celebrating The Birth of A Baby

Posted by Kerri Mosher on January 3, 2017 in Blog |

If there’s a new baby due to be born in your family, congratulations! Waiting for a new arrival to come is always an exciting time for any family. This guide will give you some great ideas for celebrating the birth of a baby:

Throw A Baby Shower

Possibly the most obvious thing to do when celebrating the birth of a baby is throwing a baby shower. Usually, you throw the baby shower just before the baby is due to be born. However, you could always throw the shower after the baby is born depending on preference. It’s usually tradition to give a gift at the shower. Browse baby shower gift ideas online to get an idea of what you could give to the proud parents.

Buy A Thoughtful Gift

Buying a thoughtful gift regardless of the baby shower or not is another good idea. It doesn’t need to be super expensive and fancy, as long as it’s thoughtful. There are so many gifts that make great presents for both parents and babies. You could buy a scrapbook to document the early stages of their life or even a teething toy like Sophie The Giraffe. There are lots of things out there that make great gifts.

‘Wet The Baby’s Head’

You’ve probably heard of ‘wetting the baby’s head’. If you haven’t, it’s more about having a drink yourself than pouring anything onto the head of the baby. This means it’s time to go out and celebrate! See if you can get everybody together to clink glasses to the birth of the baby. This could be in a local pub or even a small get-together held at somebody’s home. If you were having both a baby shower and an event like this one, the shower would be held before the baby is born and wetting the baby’s head would come afterward.

Plant A Tree

Make space in your garden and plant a tree when the baby is born. The tree will grow as the baby grows, and they should love looking at it and admiring it as they grow up. You could even put a plaque on there for them with their name and birthdate.

Get The Family To Write Out Personal Messages

Buy a pretty book and get each family member to write out a personal message for the baby to read as they get older. Messages like this can be really meaningful, especially if any family members are lost as the child grows up. This is one of the best keepsakes and gifts you can give to both a parent and a baby. Make sure everybody takes the time to write something sentimental and heartfelt. Make sure they put their personality into it too!

This guide has hopefully given you a few great ideas to help you celebrate the birth of the baby. A baby being born can feel a bit chaotic, but you can make it more meaningful with these gestures. Leave your own ideas below. Thanks for reading!
