Simple Ways To Spruce Your Home This Christmas

Posted by Kerri Mosher on December 2, 2016 in Blog |

During the colder months, you can start to feel a little tired of your surroundings. After all, you’re often stuck inside staring at them all day. But as Christmas approaches, it can be an excellent idea to give your home a little spruce, to feel like you’ve freshened everything up.

You don’t even have to do a lot of home maintenance or a ton of decorating to give your home a new lease of life for the holiday season. Sometimes, it just takes a few simple changes and tweaks to give your home a refresh ahead of the festivities.

Bringing Out The Details

One of the easiest of ways to add a new level of freshness to the home is by going over your details. If you have painted door frames or doors, skirting or coving, it can be fun to give them a fresh lick of paint to bring them back out. You might even feel like changing the color and making a difference in your decor.

Swapping Small Appliances

It’s definitely a lot of work to remodel your kitchen, especially during the holidays. So, instead of worrying about the basics, focus on the accessories instead. So you have your main theme set with your cupboards and countertops. But you can play around with the accents in the room by updating your appliances. You might be asking yourself, what is the best electric tea kettle that will allow you to do that? Well, you can add so much character to a kitchen but choosing fun colors or prints instead of standard color schemes.

Keep It Fresh

Another way to, quite literally, freshen up your decor is to bring in fresh flowers. Even plants and herbs can add a whole new level of life to your living space. If you have flowers in the backyard, why not head out and pick some of your favorites and set them on the table. During the holiday season, you can also find some festive bunches in stores, which might add to the Christmas decorations you love.

Focus On The Furnishings

Some of the best tips you will ever find from designers tend to focus on the details in your decor. You might not want to redo a whole room; it could be a nightmare at this time of year. But, you still want the effect of having done so. Instead, if your living space is pretty simple and uses one primary color scheme, such as neutrals or monochrome, you can say a lot with soft furnishings. Not only will it looks a little fresher, but you can make it feel as festive as you like. You can even keep your old choices and rotate between the two for summer and winter.

Get Out In The Garden

And, while your mind is probably going to focus on the inside, why not give the outside a freshen up too? How is your yard looking this winter? Maybe a quick tidy up to get rid of the leaves and weeds, as well as cutting and trimming any grass or bushes, is in order if it’s not something you often do. Cheering up the outside of your house could be all it takes to make your home feel bright and Christmas ready.
