It’s Never Too Late To Make One Of These Important Changes

Posted by Kerri Mosher on January 3, 2018 in Blog |

Most of us spend time once in awhile reflecting on where we’ve been, where we are, and where we’re going in life. It doesn’t really matter what time of year it is, or how long it’s been since you last made any significant changes. In fact, it’s never too late to make things happen that you’ve been thinking of for a while. The changes needn’t be big, but they might be important so you can take care of your health and wellbeing for the rest of your life. Why not try one of these?

Sleep

If you’ve ever struggled with sleep, you probably already know how awful it feels to push through a day when you’re really tired. There are lots of reasons why you might struggle to fall asleep or stay asleep. One of the most common causes is simple to fix though. If you’ve decided that now is the time to improve the quality of sleep you get every night, then you’re not alone. It’s a very important part of life, and you should make it a priority.

Something as simple as a bedtime routine that you stick to every single night could help you to fall asleep more easily. Start at the same time every evening, and try to stick to the same things you do in the same order. These all act as triggers for your body and mind to start to unwind. Some can even help your hormones to work to aid sleep too.

Some of the things you might include in your routine might be brushing and flossing your teeth and removing your makeup. Perhaps you like a warm bath in the evening? Did you know that warming your body in the water then letting it rapidly cool when you step out can help trigger those sleepy hormones? Warm milk can help in a similar way, but it is also thought that warmed milk contains ingredients to assist with sleepiness too.

Leave your electronic devices and TVs out of the bedroom though. Aside from the risk of blue screen light preventing your brain from triggering the sleep hormone, you’re keeping it active with engaging tasks. Read a paper book instead and sleep well.

Vitamins and Minerals

Have you ever noticed how much better your body feels when you take a multivitamin during the cold and flu season? Most of us are lacking in key nutrients at some point each month. And there are certain times of the month when the balance of what we might need can change. Of course, the best (and nicest) way of getting all the vitamins and minerals you need is from the vegetables and fruits in your meals.

Changing your diet is rarely required if you need a boost of the good stuff. You simply need to add a few more veggies and a piece or two of fruit. Vegetables contain very few calories, so it’s unlikely to cause you any weight gain. Fruit, on the other hand, does contain a lot of calories from the naturally occurring sugars. If you want to bump up your fruit intake, swap out a less healthy snack choice like candies or cakes.

Ditching Bad Habits

Most of us have or have had guilty pleasures that we enjoy too much to give up. But some of these can be so harmful and so expensive that quitting is essential. One of the most obvious things that we all know we have to quit is smoking. When you read the list of ingredients in a cigarette, you know it’s best to do it sooner rather than later. It’s just so hard to do though!

There are plenty of different approaches. You might just stop, but it’s easier to gradually reduce the addictive ingredients like nicotine over time. Gum and patches are just two of the approaches to quitting smoking without giving up nicotine. Over time, you might reduce it. But if the habit of holding and inhaling a cigarette is tough to quit, you might instead look for a shop Vaporescence is sold at to find an eLiquid vapor that helps. These can also be sold in different strengths so you can reduce your nicotine over time.

Move

Moving your body is essential. Most of us move plenty taking care of the house and the kids. But chances are we’re not moving quite as much as we should be. Every joint and muscle should be used each day. This keeps the body flexible and moving as we age. It’s not always easy to find the time to exercise, but most of us can take a few moments to stretch. Stretching is good for mobility, and it helps us to relax too. Best of all, it can help keep those annoying aches and pains away.

It’s important to remember that the heart is a pretty important muscle too. Cardiovascular or aerobic exercise will raise your heart rate and give your heart that healthy workout it needs. As you do this a little each day, you’ll find you’re able to do more for longer over time. It really doesn’t take much to begin. You can use this improved fitness level to participate in more sports and activities. It might help maintain a healthy weight and improve your sleep too.

One of the easiest ways to get into regular or routine exercising is to use an app. These can even track what you do and help you push forward on those really tough days. There are plenty of free apps, but you might want to invest in a wristband tracker too. If you think you might struggle for time, commit to just 10 minutes in the morning, 10 minutes at lunchtime, and 10 minutes in the evening. It soon adds up.

Some of the activities that are easiest to slip in include walking, stretching, Yoga, and cycling. Each of these helps you to move and can be used to increase your heart rate too. Which changes will you challenge yourself to make?
