Get To Sleep And Feel Refreshed

When you have a lot on your plate, it’s more often than not your sleep that suffers. A lack of sleep can be seriously detrimental to your health and can be the cause of you acting erratically and over emotionally. The simplest of situations can seem magnified when you’ve not had enough sleep. Therefore it’s crucial that you work hard to ease your mind before sleep and get yourself a proper routine.

  1. Keep to a routine

Even on the weekend, it;s a good idea to go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day. Even if you miss out on a night’s sleep, don’t ben tempted to sleep the next day for hours on end. If you do this, you may experience feelings that are similar to jet-lag. Choose a bedtime that feels natural to you and try to stick to it. If you nail this routine, your body will act as its own alarm clock. Imagine – a life without an alarm clock!

  1. Treat your naps with caution

As much as everyone loves to take a little nap during the day if you take up too much time doing this, you’ll actually make yourself feel worse.   1. Watch what you eat and drink

If you’re a bit of a sugar addict, you may be unknowingly destroying your sleep pattern. Sugar and caffeine will play havoc with your sleeping patterns. It could be worth asking yourself, does earl grey have caffeine in it if you’re a regular earl grey tea drinker. It’s a good idea to avoid coffee too close to bedtime too. Look into the benefits of chamomile tea if you d o like to drink something warm before you sleep.

  1. Exercise more

If you work your body out throughout the day, you’re inevitably going to feel more tired at night. It’s a good idea not to raise your heart rate and stimulate your mind too much before you go to sleep. Taking a spin class an hour before your normal sleep time might actually keep you awake! Instead, pump that iron and go for that run in the early evening to feel sleepy and content by bedtime.

  1. Clear your head

A bedtime ritual will help shake off any of the dramas that you’ve experienced that day. Have a cup of hot cocoa, adopt a relaxing skincare routine and try to stop yourself from worrying. Worrying is the ultimate sleep thief, and it will only make you feel worse in the morning. Listen to calming music and take up meditation to help rid yourself of demons. Taking a bath is also a great idea and will relax both your body and your mind. Light some candles and snuggle up with your favorite book. Try to train yourself to avoid any electronic devices before you go to sleep – the lights will keep you awake.
