The start of summer.

Posted by Kerri Mosher on April 19, 2016 in Our family stories and shares., Summer 2016 |

These are some of the reason I love summer.

One thing I love about summer is that it gets me and the kids out of the house and into the sunshine. I hate leaving home when it is cold so we are pretty much stuck in the house. Here is how the kids are enjoying the warmer weather:

I look around the corner and see Joshua and Dunkin playing in the dirt. This is the first time Joshua has played in the dirt. I went into the house and grab his dump truck and a spoon and showed him a fun way to play in the dirt.

First time around parenting I am not so sure I was supportive of my children playing in the dirt or encouraging it. Second time around I feel it’s important for them to enjoy the great outdoors.

The boys also loved playing on the swing set. I love when Garrett comes outside and spends time with us. Joshua loves his big brothers and really enjoys being around them. They don’t care too much for Joshua going into their rooms because he doesn’t keep his hands off anything. Here is some pictures of the boys playing on the swing set.

I love pictures that are taken outside because they seem to turn out great. This is a picture of Garrett that I took using my phone and just love how it turned out.

A couple ways I keep my kids safe when outside.

When I am dressing Joshua for the day, I now have my sunblock out with his clothes. I put sunblock on him before dressing him to keep him safe from the sun. If he is outside playing for a while I reapply it a couple times throughout the day. I use 50 SPF sunscreen for him because I don’t trust anything lower.

When my first born was young I went to Ceder Point and it was cold and cloudy that day. My baby ended up with burns. He did heal without scars but this is a lesson I learned the hard way. I was told back then that the sun can do more damage when behind the clouds then when not.

Insect repellant

I have some insect repellant handy so that when my boys are outside I can keep them from getting ate up from mosquitoes or having ticks on them.

I am hoping that we are going to lots of family fun things this summer and plan to share with all of you. When I plan family fun, I am pretty good about finding ways to make our family time enjoyable and save money. I will be sharing the ways we save, they may be small ways but every cent counts for our family.
